Pastor Reed is a 1976 graduate of Hebert High school and a 1980 graduate of Jarvis Christian College with a B.S. Degree in Mathematics. Pastor Reed answered the call to preach the Gospel in 1996 and was ordained in 2004 by Pastor Kavin L. Jones of Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church and Pastor Ollis Whitiker of Mount Gilead Missionary Baptist Church.
Pastor Reed’s Doctrinal Belief is; “I believe in the God the Father, who sovereignly created and rule over all things, Jesus the Son, who came to offer eternal life to those who would repent, believe and faithfully obey Him, and the Holy Spirit, who is actively working in the lives of Believers. I believe the Bible is the infallible and inspired word of God, sufficient for all the Church’s needs including primarily it’s growth in holiness to the Lord.
Pastor Reed’s vision for Rising Sun Baptist Church is to live out the two Greatest commandments of the New Testament. To be; “A Church With A Passion for God and Compassion for Mankind.” This vision follows the Lords commands found in Matthew 22:37-40, which reads; “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and all your soul and with all your mind This is the greatest and foremost commandment. The second is like it, you shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend the whole Law and Prophets.” The process to accomplish this vision is; a developed appetite and understanding of Gods word. In order to show our love for God we must keep His commandments and walk in His will. Through an expository taught word, regular attendance in Bible Study and Sunday School we should develop a greater understanding of God’s word and His will. Through this understanding we come to know we all have the Ministry of Reconciliation (2 Cor. 5:18‑19). This should cause us to reach out to our fellow man.
Whatever we do here at Rising Sun Baptist Church must promote our love for God and/or our fellow man. The Bible says if we love God we will keep His Commandments and the world will know we are His disciples by the love we have for one another.
