Rising Sun Baptist Church
About The Pastor

Pastor James W. Reed, III

Pastor Reed is a 1976 graduate of Hebert High school and a 1980 graduate of Jarvis Christian College with a B.S. Degree in Mathematics. Pastor Reed answered the call to preach the Gospel in 1996 and was ordained in 2004 by Pastor Kavin L. Jones of Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church and Pastor Ollis Whitiker of Mount Gilead Missionary Baptist Church.

Pastor Reed’s Doctrinal Belief is; “I believe in the God the Father, who sovereignly created and rule over all things, Jesus the Son, who came to offer eternal life to those who would repent, believe and faithfully obey Him, and the Holy Spirit, who is actively working in the lives of Believers. I believe the Bible is the infallible and inspired word of God, sufficient for all the Church’s needs including primarily it’s growth in holiness to the Lord.

Pastor Reed’s Vision for Rising Sun Baptist Church is; To be a church with a “Passion for God and Compassion for Mankind”. This simple principle follows the Lord’s command found in Matthew 22:37-40, which reads; “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and foremost commandment. The second is like it, you shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend the whole Law and Prophets”. The process to accomplish this vision is to have a spirit filled praise and worship which should deepen our love for God, teach a clear, challenging, life related, expository word which should broaden our understanding of God’s will and His will for our life. Through this deeper love and broadened understanding we should become a church compelled to share with mankind the love and greatness of our God.
